Well hello, there stranger!
I am so sorry for not updating my blog (properly) in such a long time, I have just not been in such a talkative mood lately but I am finally there and ready for the new year to begin!
As you know, every month I take a look back at the things I did during the previous month and post a lot of photos and videos for you to look at.
December was a busy month, a very busy month in fact. I literally feel like I haven’t stopped in the past few days.
The first thing, of course, was that this month was the month that we held the funeral for my Nan who sadly passed away last month. It was a very sad ceremony but also very joyous as I felt like we gave her the best send off that she could have had, and for that I am happy. I am sad that I will never get to see my Nan again but I am also aware that life has to go on, and I need to continue with my life and make my Nan proud. I had 30 fantastic years with her and there are some glorious memories in there which I will carry with me until the day I die.
Anyway, enough with the sad emotional stuff. I got two new arrivals into my household this month, with not one but two tortoises. I have fallen in love with tortoises after my friend got two back in September. I have been really taken by them and I find them such fascinating creatures to watch, they all have unique personalities. I initially only wanted one, I felt like two would be too much and that as solitary creatures in the wild, I wouldn’t need my tortoise to have a buddy. I named my first tortoise “Sylvie”, a tribute to my Nan in fact who was named “Sylvia”, although I felt that would be too weird to name her completely after my Nan, and “Sylvie” is a cute name. Anyway, so I spent a week with Sylvie and she has been settling in really well into her new enclosure, a little too well if you ask me. She kept crawling and exploring things and in turn, keeps finding herself upside down. We had to help her right herself three days in a row and it was this that got me thinking about getting a second one. I have seen various YouTube videos where tortoises help each other out when in a distressed state (such as being upside down) and I wanted to make sure that if Sylvie ended up upside down again she could have a little help when I wasn’t there. So welcome, Morty! When I initially was going to get a tortoise the name I had in mind was “Morty”, I thought it rhymed well with tort as in tort-oise. So now, I have got my dream team and they have been settling in well together so far, even sleeping in the same spot on the first night, so cute to watch!
Here are some photos I have taken of my new children:
I turned 31 earlier this month, it feels surreal saying that actually. I actually feel really old now, I mean I am no spring chicken anymore. I am completely and utterly a “thirty-something” now. I didn’t really have a great birthday though, after my plans to go away got cancelled and then the second thing we planned had gone awry because apparently snow and public transport doesn’t mix in London. I don’t see any of the Scandinavian countries having issues with this though? The good news is that I did have a good birthday despite this, I was with my partner in crime Amy and we went and got a lush Costa Coffee to keep us warm in the cold weather. We have also said we would do a rescheduled birthday day out in London later this month, so I am excited for that!
I am really excited for 2018 and what it will bring, I feel that there are going to be a ton of positive changes about to come into my life and I feel like I am ready to embrace it all. With the passing of my Nan, who I have lived with, in recent years, I feel like that is a big chapter in my life that has been closed and now it’s ready to start writing the next chapter, the future is looking bright and I can’t wait to get started.
Don’t forget to look out for a ton of retrospective blogs coming soon looking back at my 2017 in both my life and of course, music, where I count down my most played songs and albums of the year.
Here is my Adventures video for December 2018, enjoy watching…
