CURATED: 1986 in Pop Music

Hey there ladies and gentlemen, what a lovely few days it has been!

There is another new monthly blog series starting, and this time it’s looking at set flashbacks in music.

Yes, every month going forward I will be delving into the history of music and looking at a particular era or genre or even artist in the music world. I am starting this off with the year in which I was born into this world, 1986. We’re not just talking 1986 music though, but instead focusing on the pop music of the time. 31 years ago, we were in the middle of the funky 1980’s and it was the year in which the M25 was first opened here in the UK, and there was also the Chernobyl National disaster in Ukraine. Do you remember the year? If so, what memories do you have?

31 years ago (gosh I am getting on a bit now!), we were in the middle of the funky 1980’s and it was the year in which the M25 was first opened here in the UK, and there was also the Chernobyl National disaster in Ukraine.

In terms of the music around at the time,  we were listening to a lot of Madonna and Janet Jackson, as well as Bananarama and Pet Shop Boys. Here are a couple of my favourite tracks from the time (not that I will remember them from the day they were released).

All of the songs above and many more will now be added to my Curated Playlists on iTunes and will be one of my focuses in my music library over the next month. What will be the next era or artist to focus on next month?
