EUROVISION 2017 BLOG: DAY 5 (+ PODCAST)

Woah, golly! There is only one more day to go until it is the end of Eurovision season once again, and we will be counting down until Eurovision 2018. Until then though, there is a lot to cover, so let’s go.

Last night, as you know, was the 2nd Semi-Final and 10 more qualifiers have joined the line-up for the Grand Final which will be broadcast live tomorrow night. We now have a full running order for the show, let’s take a look at that…

So as you can see, Israel will be opening the show and France will be closing the show. The countries to watch here are, of course, the bookies favourites who are currently Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria. From this draw, Bulgaria definitely looks like they have been given the better deal and Italy has been given the worst draw. Could we be heading to Sofia next year? Why don’t you take a listen to the podcast that me and André (from ESCObsession) collaborated on earlier to find out.

Tonight, all of the 26 competing entries will be taking the stage to take part in what is known as the Jury Final. All of the competing countries (that is all 42 of them) will have National Juries critiquing the performances tonight and ranking all of them from 1-26 (or 25 if they are taking part themselves – they can’t vote for their own country!). This will make up 50% of the total score tomorrow so it is imperative that the performers bring their “A” game tonight to ensure they get a good head start for tomorrow.

That is all for tonight, a short and sweet entry yet again. Tomorrow I will post my Top 10 favourite songs, which I will be honest, have changed since my initial rankings back in March. I can’t believe this season is almost over yet again!

P.S. Did you see that Jana Burčeska got a wedding proposal during last nights show? It was so sweet, BBC4 didn’t broadcast it (as per – they really need to stop doing awful pre-recorded shows to fill in the advert gaps) but you can take a look on YouTube right now to see it, it was so cute!
