2017: A Predictive

So here we are, 2017 is amongst us. I have a great feeling about this year, let’s try and be positive amidst what we think is going to happen next. Yes, we are about to have a new US President who wasn’t the people’s choice, and yes, we are about to make the worst decision here in the UK by declaring Article 50 and leave the EU, but let’s not let that hamper us.

2017 for me personally, is going to be like going back to basics. I had such a fantastic year in 2016, which will or could never be topped if I am honest, and so I am focusing all of my energy now on trying to make 2017 the year in which I do things differently. My first wish is to finally move out on my own, with a tentative date being around June 2017, I will hopefully be moving down South to be closer to my workplace. I feel like it will be a brand new era, and friends closest to me will know that I have not been happy where I currently am, so it’s about time I go out there and start this brand new chapter of my life. I am now 30, and so 2017 is going to be the first full year of my 30’s, that slate has already been wiped clean in my opinion.

It’s time to go back to basics…

I only have the one holiday booked so far this year, as part of my back to basics plan, I am not ruling out ever travelling again but I need to be sensible in terms of where I go and how much I spend. I will be travelling to Malta in May 2017, my first time going there since 2005, and that was actually one of my first holidays abroad. I am looking forward to having a nice relaxing beach holiday, combined with meeting the locals, eating the local cuisine and unwinding at the spa (in the hotel) at the All Inclusive resort. I am unfortunately not going to Eurovision 2017 this year, so this was a treat to myself around the same time, and we all know the Maltese are huge Eurovision fans.

It’s going to be so good to visit Malta again in May.

So what’s next in the music world for 2017? Well, we know for definite that there is going to be new music from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Fergie, Iggy Azalea, Nelly Furtado and Kelly Clarkson but I am also hoping that we are about to see returns to the music world from Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Goldfrapp, P!nk and Kylie Minogue? I am writing this blog in advance of New Years Eve of course, but it is heavily rumoured that the 90’s pop band Steps are also reuniting this year and performing tonight at the G-A-Y nightclub in London. I wonder what an album from them in 2017 will sound like? It is expected that there will also be new albums from Take That, All Saints (who were my most played artist of 2016) and Eurovision favourite Loreen who is participating in this years Melodifestivalen also. I cannot wait, and I think that my Last.FM page is going to be very busy this year.

The 90’s pop band Steps may be reforming (again).

I also have a few concerts and shows lined up for 2017 which I am very excited about. First of all, I will be going to London later this month to go to the Eurovision: You Decide show being put on by the BBC to find the UK representative for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. I really hope we have a winner this time around. I will also be seeing the pop/folk band Joseph next month, along with Swedish pop singer Måns Zelmerlöw in April, and Ariana Grande in May. I will also be going to the West End again in March to take my best friend out to see Wicked, which will be very good indeed. I am sure there will be more shows to add to this list, I expect Lady Gaga will announce some shows after her Super Bowl performance next month, I cannot wait to see her live again!

Lady Gaga will perform at the Super Bowl again in February.

What about movies and TV? 2016 was a great year for movies, and we already know that Episode VIII will be released in December as part of the Star Wars franchise. I am also excited to see the new Power Rangers movie which is released in the Spring. I was a huge fan of the show back in the 90’s and I am interested to see what the reboot will bring. There is also the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey being released next month, Fifty Shades Darker which I am sure will be a big Box Office hit. In terms of TV, I am looking forward to seeing the new series of American Horror Story which will be expected in September, Eurovision and Melodifestivalen of course, Celebrity Big Brother (I am still a huge fan) and my guilty pleasure on Channel 4, Naked Attraction. I wonder what will happen when Great British Bake Off moves to Channel 4 as well, will it be the same?

A controversial move, GBBO moves to Channel 4 later this year.

In terms of tech, Apple is still ruling the roost and the new iPhone expected in September will of course be a treasure to behold. I am also interested to see if they will announce a new Apple Watch, after the recent model was revealed in September 2016. I really love my Apple Watch but I am sure there will be some new cool features that they can tag on to the next model. I can’t wait to see the new Nintendo Switch in action, although I am not totally convinced to get one yet, as I still enjoy playing on my Wii U. I also wonder if Nintendo and Apple will continue to join forces and release more Nintendo classics on iOS, like they recently have with Super Mario Run. I would love to play a version of Zelda on my iPad sometime soon, let’s make it happen!

Super Mario Run is so addictive on iOS.

So yeah, 2017 promises a lot of good things and changes and I cannot wait to get started. As you are reading this I am with my friends celebrating the New Year in style, after working the last few New Years Eves. What are your plans for 2017? What are you excited for? I would love to hear from you so please do make contact. One of my New Years resolutions is to blog even more, and to get myself Live on YouTube to discuss certain affairs. No more hiding behind the camera for me!

Yes, that’s right. I will be going live more often this year.

Happy New Year to you all and have a fantastic 2017 everybody!
