We are now half way through the year and what an exciting start to 2016 it has been in the last 6 months. I do think this year is going by so quickly, and I am also hoping for some lovely sunny weather in the next months as well, I don’t think we have had a proper summer yet here in the UK.
So, it’s that time of the month where I look back at the music that I have been listening to in the previous month. Let’s get straight to it, it’s time to introduce the most played artist of June 2016…
Yes, this will come as no surprise to anyone but the band Coldplay has gone back up to my most played act of June 2016 was. I think it’s safe to say that the hype of seeing them live on the 19th June helped propel my listening habits and I couldn’t get enough of their back catalogue. I am also still loving their most recent album “A Head Full Of Dreams” which was my most played album earlier in the year as well. That particular album also entered my Top 10 most played albums last month, re-entering at #9 with a total of 35 plays, more on that later.
Coldplay have been going from strength to strength and if you have been keeping up with music festivals this summer you may have seen them play at Glastonbury on Sunday just gone. I watched it on relay on my TV and it was great seeing them perform again but this time seeing how the show unfolded to the crowd, I really cannot wait to get the tour on DVD when it is released, hopefully later this year. Coldplay are such a great live act and if you get a chance to see them, you should not miss the opportunity. You can read more on my thoughts of their latest tour by reading my past blog here.
For now, this is the full Top 10 of my most played artists for June 2016, any of your favourites here?

So have you been checking out any new albums recently? I certainly have, there have been so many released recently that I do find it hard to keep up. Apple Music makes it so easy though to stream on the go and I have managed to pick up a few gems along the way. So, the artwork below is my most played album of June 2016. Is it an album that you have been listening to?
Kygo is a Norwegian DJ and Producer who has recently hit the big time with songs being hits worldwide as well as in Europe. Kygo has collaborated with many well known performers for this debut album including John Legend, Tom Odell, Labrinth and Foxes. For the last couple of years Kygo has released songs individually which have done well in the streaming charts, he is probably best known for the song “Stole The Show” which went for the big time in the USA and was performed on many well known TV shows over there. The album is of course, a dance record, but fuses together many sub-genres on the album as well including house, tropical house, trance and even a bit of rock. It is well worth checking out if you haven’t already and if you have Apple Music, go ahead and click the artwork to listen to it in full. You won’t regret it!

So, now it’s time for the big one. Yes, I am talking about the most played track of June 2016, one single song that must be listened to in any way possible now. Shall we take a look at the video?
Yes,the #2 most played song of May 2016 has now reached the dizzying heights of #1 for June 2016, but would you believe it, with a lower amount of plays. Still, I can’t get enough of this song and it is without a doubt a great summer track. The video was released to VEVO/YouTube on the 16th June and it features the star singer herself, Rihanna. This is a collaboration after all between Calvin Harris and Rihanna and the song is called “This Is What You Came For”.

So there you have it, the full Top 10 songs most played in June 2016. Now, I have a little bit of a surprise for you. From next month, exactly a year after my first Music of the Month blog was published on the 1st August 2015, this blog is going to look a lot different to before. Instead of focusing on the #1 most played song or artist or album, I will be focusing on the Top 10 and giving as much exposure to everything featured. That is all I will say on the matter, you will have to come back next month to see what that is about. For now though, I can reveal how the Top 10 songs will be revealed going forward, and will use the Top 10 of June 2016 to show how this will be showed. You ready, go ahead and click the play button below.
Have a fantastic July and see you in a months time for more Music of the Month. Happy listening! 🎧🎧
