Eurovision 2016 Live Blog: Day 4

I can’t believe that it’s Thursday already, this week is going by so quickly, it’s scary. I will have to keep this blog a short one as I am due to go to an OGAE UK meet-up at 2:30pm and I have only just woken up. I felt so knackered last night, and my feet were in so much agony, that I decided to just call it a night and go to sleep. I slept for 11 hours. My feet feel marvellous now and I am more than ready to tackle this weekend’s antics. I missed out on the OGAE party at EuroClub last night but I think the general consensus amongst my friends is that we were all feeling a bit deflated and tired, so a break is well deserved.

Anyway, the OGAE UK meet-up is a booked party in the daytime where members of the OGAE UK community meet up and see how everybody is getting on and get to know new members, I love being a part of the OGAE community, as they have done so much for me over the years including of course, getting tickets to all of the shows this year and also gaining fan accreditation. ITV will be there filming today along with a Eurovision winner, could it be Katrina from Katrina & The Waves? Maybe! I will be taking photos of course.

The ABBA Museum.

So as this blog is done in retrospect, this is all about what happened yesterday. First of all, I got up and made my way to the Slussen ferries where the ferries take you to another part of the Stockholm islands and in particular to the island where the ABBA Museum is located. We got out tickets at the collection desk and then paraded around the ABBA Museum and also the Eurovision Exhibition that is also being held there currently. They have so much of ABBA’s history all in that one place, from records printed all over the world to the costumes they wore, to replications of their recording studio and even apartment, it was a fascinating look into how the global band came about and how they came up with some magnificent classic pop tunes. The Eurovision Exhibition was also really good as you got to see some of the costumes that artists have worn throughout the years and also delve into the history books, you could also sing on a Eurovision stage if you wanted to. Me and my friend declined the opportunity to do that but did witness some poor soul murder the Eurovision hit “Fairytale”, all part of the fun though I guess.

From the ABBA Museum, I intended on doing lots of sightseeing around the old part of town, in the Gamla Stan area. I took some fantastic shots, Stockholm has some really great classic architecture out here and a lot of history that goes with it. I would recommend to anybody to come out here and visit if you can, such a fantastic bustling city where everybody is so hospitable and friendly. I love how everything is so efficient out here (apart from the night trains!).

Stockholm is such a beautiful city.

I then went back to Globen for the third show of the week, this was the 2nd Dress Rehearsal of the 2nd Semi Final, otherwise known as the Jury Final. I managed to get a really good look at the stage and was also sort of behind the scenes as I saw how the camerawork team all worked together and saw how the producer of the show was putting things together. Måns and Petra (the two hosts) also walked behind me several times, I was tempted to ask for a picture but they looked rather busy and stressed, so better not!

The hosts: Petra Mede & Måns Zelmerlöw

The songs were well performed and even though I think this is the weaker Semi-Final of the two, there were still some sterling performances in there. I really liked the performances from Australia, Bulgaria, Norway and Ukraine and I would also love to see Macedonia (FYR) make it through to the final tonight too. Yes, tonight, at time of writing is the live show for the 2nd Semi Final, so make sure to watch. UK viewers, you will be voting tonight so make your vote count, it’s live on BBC Four at 8pm UK time. Here are my predictions on the ten that I think will make it through, as oppose to want:

Will I be right with any of those? We shall have to find out. Those are the acts that I think stood out with the crowd last night and who sang the best, thus gaining jury appeal.

Stay tuned for another update tomorrow, thanks for reading!
