2016: A Prediction

Welcome to the New Year, and what a New Year it’s going to be! The ironic thing is, I am writing this whilst still being in last year, so by the time you read this it may not all be so great, but I am hoping that it is.

2016 promises a lot of things, especially for me in my own personal life. This is the year where I will be turning the grand old age of 30, travelling far and wide and hopefully making my way out into the world on my own. The big thing for me, of course, is the prospect of hitting 30. I am no longer a kid, or a teenager, or a twenty-something and the realisation of this is going to hit me pretty hard. I have said to myself that I intend on celebrating the hell out of it though, that’s the best way, surely? Turning 30 isn’t all bad, in fact, I think in my thirties I am going to end up having the best times of my life, so here’s to it!

I fully intend on moving out this year, somehow or another. The time has come to fly the nest, although let’s be honest, that time came about 5 years ago. I have been scared to go it alone and move out, and also I got myself into a lot of debt which wasn’t the best plan, but this year I feel the time is right to venture out and never look back. In 2016 I will also be travelling to Stockholm to see the Eurovison Song Contest, and I am so glad to say, that I will be there for every single show. It cannot get any more amazing than that.

2016 is also going to be the year where I take my weight loss regime to the next level, I know what it is that gets results, and after taking a month off in December, I am ready to get back on it and train harder and better. I have lost about three stone this year, a great achievement, and I say about because I purposely haven’t weighed myself in December. I expect I am going to get a bit of a shock this morning (whilst you are reading this) when I step on my new Withings Scales and see where it is I am at. Either way though, I am not going to be dis-heartened, I know what it is I need to do to get good results and from now until New Years Day 2017 I expect to lose 4 stone which (if I am still at where I was last month) will bring me to my target weight. I’ve got this!

So what else can we expect in 2016? Well, music. Music is the soundtrack to anybody’s life and as you can tell from reading my blog, music is everything to me. I will be writing monthly blogs as per normal on what music is being played the most (by me!) as well as run downs on different shows and concerts that I go to. In 2016, we can expect new music from Lady GaGa, Britney Spears, BeyoncΓ©, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sia amongst a whole load of others. There is also the prospect of a rumoured (but almost guaranteed) Spice Girls reunion in the Summer. I am bloomin’ excited about that!

I am a big movie fan, I was really blown over by how amazing the latest Star Wars film was, and actually by going to the cinema again it has got me wanting to go to the cinema more, especially as my local one has leather reclinable seats in every screen. This year we can expect to see the new Alice In Wonderland movie, the re-boot of Ghostbusters (featuring an all-female cast), Batman vs Superman, Finding Dory and The BFG. I think another trip to the cinema will be on the cards sometime this year, although sadly, this won’t be for the new Star Wars film, for that we will have to wait until May 2017.

So, last year we saw the launch of the Apple Watch. I wasn’t going to get one at first but seeing friends with one really pushed me to want to get one too (I get very jealous, very quickly). I am so glad I did get one as by having one it has made me more alert to keep moving more and be more aware of my health. It is also a great little gadget filled with tons of apps to browse. The rumour is that in the forthcoming year, there will be the second generation of Apple Watch. I don’t think I will be getting one though, especially as you can kind of expect a new generation to be released every year, so again I may be waiting until 2017 before I make another purchase. The great thing is though, when the iPhone 7 comes out (probably in September as always) I will be getting a free upgrade through O2 for no expense to me at all. It’s part of the new plan they brought out last year, so I will be interested to see how this pans out later in the year.

Travelling wise, as you know, I am heading to Stockholm in May. I am also, and have been putting away money towards this for a couple of months now, going to Sydney in late November next year. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime for me, as I have always said since I was a little kid that I wanted to visit Australia before turning 30. I am using Airbnb for the first time when I go, if you are new to this service it’s worth checking out as it’s basically the Uber for hotels. I managed to get a great deal through Qantas in the Black Friday sale and so my future travel plans are set in stone. I really cannot wait for this and I am going to be taking loads of pictures and videos. I have always been a bit of a travel lover, but I think nothing will top this trip. After I have been to Australia I think I am going to go on a bit of hiatus from holidaying, not because I don’t want to but because I can say that in my Twenties I did all of the travelling that I wanted to do, and move on. I expect I will still be going to wherever Eurovision is held in the coming years but in terms of far away travel, that will be my lot. I also think if I lose the weight I need to lose by the time November comes (which is a possbility) then it is going to be the best reward ever, and I can finally have pictures taken of me which I would be proud of.
