Music of the Month – October 2015

Happy Halloween everybody, it is rather scary to think that a year ago today I was out in Las Vegas having a bubble. Where has 2015 gone? Has anyone seen it? You can read my blog on my times in Las Vegas during the Halloween period here.

So anyway, back to the present. The music scene at the moment is really hotting up isn’t it? Christmas is just around the corner and so everybody is putting out their new albums here, there and everywhere for everybody to hear. Adele also recently proclaimed her comeback to the music world with the release of her latest single “Hello” and the new album, out next month, entitled “25”. The new song is breaking records everywhere, with streaming, downloads and YouTube plays all setting new peaks. Has it been a song that I have enjoyed though?

So, let’s start with my #1 most played Artist and Album. This is another month where the #1 for each is the same, and this month it is Janet Jackson who has taken that crown. She surprised everybody this year with a comeback, albeit a subdued one, but the album is a very pleasant listen. Last month, her new album “Unbreakable” conjured up a total of 91 plays and in total for her, 135 plays during October. The album is full of R&B and Pop jams, as well as the occasional ballad too. There is also a dedication on there for her late brother, Michael, and it was all produced by her long term partners in crime, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I am so thrilled to be going to see her live next year, for the very first time. She will be performing at the O2 Arena in March next year and I am glad to say I have bagged myself a ticket. After failing to see her at the Albert Hall gig in 2011 (which I missed due to sickness), I am so psyched to finally be seeing the Queen of Dance up close and personal. Don’t forget to check out her latest album on Apple Music now.

Janet Jackson topped both the Top Artists and Top Albums in October

So, song of the month? Let’s get straight to the video…

What song have I been digging the most in the past 31 days? Well, it is Adam Lambert with the song “Another Lonely Night” which has reached a total of 27 plays. The song is lifted from his recent LP, “The Original High” and you may remember I was digging the first single from that album over the summer, called “Ghost Town”. Now Adam is back, and this song truly is a great listen and has a poignant video to go with it. The Top 10 this month was very close, and it seems I am still digging the track “Where Are Ü Now” by Jack Ü featuring Justin Bieber too which has ended up at #2 on my countdown, falling down from last weeks #1. You may also notice that the new Adele track which has got the population of the world into a frenzy, has entered my Top 10 but only at #9 for now. Maybe it will do better next month? Anyway, here is the full Top 10 for you to digest and listen to:
