So here we are, it’s September 1st 2015. I hate to say it, but we are now officially on the countdown until Christmas. This is the time that kids go back to school, X Factor keeps us entertained at the weekends and the nights draw in earlier and earlier. It’s not all bad news though, this is normally the peak time for good music to be unleashed to the public.
So this is my first official “Music of the Month” blog. With the launch of Apple Music over the summer, my listening habits have changed somewhat, listening to loads of new stuff which I normally would have missed, and loads of the old classics which I have forgotten about. Instead of the usual “Song of the Month” which focused mainly on my favourite song from the month previous, this blog will be bringing you my favourite songs, albums and artists throughout the previous month as well as any concerts that I have been to and could provide you some music gossip if you like.
So, to get things started. Throughout the month of August 2015, there was a lot of rain. Too much rain for a summer month, it’s been Years & Years since we have seen a glorious summer season here in the UK. Funny that, as I have listened to a well known group called Years & Years the most throughout last month. I am still buzzing over their debut album which came out back in July, so much so that it is my #1 most played album of August with a total of 121 plays. The album is packed full of up to date dance and pop classics and I can’t get enough of their latest single “Shine”, which is also at #7 in my most played tracks of August. If you haven’t checked out the album yet, make sure you go and check it out here. A brilliant album, especially when pining for some summer sunshine to break through.
In terms of the songs that I have digged last month, the #1 song goes to a track which was initially released back in October 2011. I say released, it wasn’t actually ever officially released to download and was only uploaded to VEVO to watch the music video. Even to this day, it is such a great song and despite being a cover, it really feels up to date and poignant. Recently, it has been made to officially download and so this is why it has been played and played on my iTunes recently.
With a total of 53 plays, let’s check out “Love U More” by Sunday Girl. I promise you will not be left disappointed.
