Phew, it’s hot! If you’re living in the UK, you will know what I mean. We seem to be going through a mini heatwave at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but just wish I was somehow beside the seaside or a swimming pool somewhere.
Anyway, it’s that time again to look back on the previous month of music, or more accurately, my iTunes library. There have been a lot of new albums released over the last 30 days and so I have spent most of my time checking those out and rating them for my playlists. The summer is well and truly here, folks.
So, my #1 most played song last month? Well, it is a dance track, and you know how I love my dance music. It has also received a total of 63 plays since the 1st June. It is probably the best modern trance track of our ages, and yet, criminally, it is not doing so well commercially, especially not in the UK. The song is called “Echo” and is by one of the best EDM DJ’s around, Hardwell.
To sum the song up, here is what somebody has put on his official YouTube to sum up the song, couldn’t have put it better if I tried.
Hardwell has unveiled the video to his latest single ‘Echo’, the second to be taken from his debut artist album ‘United We Are’, which stormed to the #1 iTunes spot in his native Holland upon release, while also hitting #2 worldwide. Combining some massive synth hooks, powerful percussion, and the soulful vocals of Jonathan Mendelsohn, ‘Echo’ is a mainstage anthem with something of a dark side. Behind the big hooks and high energy, the lyrics and video portray a heartfelt story of lost love. Set against a beautifully shot winter landscape, the video tells the tale of a widower taking a journey through his past, with a little help from a friend. It’s a contrast that perfectly illustrates Hardwell’s natural ability to combine meaningful songwriting with dancefloor friendly production.
Shall we all sit down and watch the video in it’s entirety? Yeah, let’s do that.
So, time to analyse the Top 5 in full. Have you been checking out any of these songs recently?

So time for my most played album of the month, well according to my Last.FM stats, my most played album of June 2015 is the same as last month. He also has the Song of the Month also. Hardwell’s album “United We Are” retains the title for the second month in a row.
